Quiet

For much of my life, I have intentionally been seeking the quiet.

In the midst of chaos, noise, conversing and crowds, peering through the clamor to discover the quiet space.
Finding the quiet, drawing deeper in to listen in the sanctuary, cherishing the moments of savored silence while the world goes on banging and clanging aloud.

Quiet, in its humility and discreetness, doesn’t boast or brag. It’s not concerned with presentation or perfection, it simply is in its natural and original design. And we have the option of partaking in it or not.

Quiet is patient. It has a holy allure that waits, and invites and remains.

To those who know its presence, its nearness by name, it beckons one to enter into again and again and again. Before long, one becomes so enthralled, so at home in the company of quiet that they build a home, a family, a life that facilitates a place for it to prosper.

If we allow, quiet invites us to become and slow us down. Taking in all that we behold. And we become what we behold.
So I ask, what are you beholding? The clanging cymbals and chatter of this world or the quiet presence of the Holy Spirit revealing?

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
