The Wild Within
There’s an inner expression
a limitless impression
of an untamed world within.
It seeks out the uninhabited
engages with the multifaceted
and never settles to be caged therein.
It awakes with the call of the Spirit
perhaps unnatural to those who fear it.
It listens,
it yields,
and it awaits the still soft voice.
Neither rushing ahead
nor blindly following the crowd
it moves in sync with rejoice.
It travels to near and it travels to far
seeking to reach what is not in the light.
No trail map,
no shortcuts,
no guidebook,
no excuses,
its goal is in seeking new heights.
It knows no one description
no box to check off of a list,
but it is easily and joyfully recognized
by those in whom it exists.
It knows the pace of nature
patience being its true secret.
When thwarted, discouraged,
broken and wayward,
its persevering spirit refuses to quit.
It knows no perfect timeline
it holds loosely in its grip,
the will to surrender
and stay woven together
as the Father navigates the course of the ship.
It draws out the riches within oneself
the treasures created by design.
Each one arising,
creatively orchestrating
a reflection of our Creator divine.
It is not a matter of being unruly
or a case of a feral outsider.
Its that it longs to live
synchronized with eternity
a life harmonizing with the Provider.
It doesn’t resemble anything else
yet its both familiar and true.
Its presence will linger
as an east wind blows
deeply satisfying in a way you never knew.
It is the honesty of the unknown,
the hope of light at dawn,
light flickering across the water’s edge.
It is the peace in the pursuit,
the sweetness of once strangers now friends,
it is a covenantal love that surrounds you like a hedge.
If you know not how to find it
you need only to believe in Him and look within.
For we become that which we behold,
Forever changing us from the moment faith begins.
You know this wild I speak of
may it now not cloud your memory again.
It is the endless expedition of what is true, and what is real.
It is the unbreakable, unduplicated
undefiled, gloriously vast wild within.
